eh

ah it's been an eventful couple o days. a blog is needed!

i'm home for a long weekend. which is a great recharge.

1. home visit to Mr W's place on Thursday with a bunch of sister mentees. They're all my juniors and wowow i'm just amazed at how much time has passed -- i've known some of them since they started housemanship and now they're nearly moving on to being Medical Officers. cool.

visiting my former boss's house was... hahaha weird. He tore the meniscus in his knee during a work exercise a few weeks ago and has been on sick leave since the injury and operation (insert the irony of an orthopaedic surgeon being on crutches, etc). i knew him as a workaholic and perfectionist of a surgeon so it's weird seeing him cooped up in a flat surrounded by his son's toys. he's also the only person (save for Internet Friends, hello) whom i've talked to about my mental health issues (via text) so there was the stupid underlying anxious tension of 'dammit, he knows' while the bunch of us chatted about Hospital Problems.

2. then we move on to my first therapist's appointment, which happened yesterday. i'm crap at talking about my feelings (which is the fucking main problem I guess) and ended up crying for all 90 minutes of the session. Fine. i still don't know what i think about going into therapy in the first place, but hey, it's something at least.. a bit of a relief to have someone to talk to (even if it's a paid professional). what i'm not there to deal with is when she attempted to analyse my drawings, lol. dude, if i drew something with a blank background, it simply means i'm crap at backgrounds. that's it. there's literally no other reason.

anyway, i'm going back in.. maybe a month? if i can get another weekend off in January. in the meantime i've been assigned an anxiety diary, which should have plenty of material in no time

3. went to see Paddington 2 right after that, which was the much needed catharsis. i loved it!! spotting all the britcom cameos was SO MUCH FUN (i missed out on tim fitzhigham though, what!). i was particularly tickled by surprise!Ayoade

BOOKS
i've started on Robert Webb's How Not to Be A Boy, and so far I like the fact that it isn't a conventional ~celebrity autobiography

PODCASTS
ok so the intro to the latest No Such Thing As A Fish episode is the most ridiculous thing in the world. DAN ARE U OKAY? this calls for fanart of Dan with Andy/Anna/James handpuppets...

VIDEOGAMES
new edition of Night in the Woods is out!!! i can't wait to replay this. such such such a good game with totally amazingly written characters and the art style/music is so beautiful.

that's about it i think! i still need to go out and buy stuff for the hospital gift exchange.

Paddington!! Literally everyone in comedy made a cameo (did you see the special thanks in the credits? So many great writers...) and the surprise!ayoade was such a treat! Gave me hope for the future, that film.

How Not to Be A Boy! Are you reading or doing the audiobook? Also enjoy yourself! There's something for everyone to get emotional about in there...

(Good job for getting therapy! It's such a big step to take to start going to sessions and opening up. I'll be rooting for you! \o/ )

There were lots of the Peep Show/TTOI writers, it was a nice surprise! Comedy is such a small world.

If you don't want to blow it on the audiobook, iplayer did an abridged version of it, and there are probably a few copies floating around.
