pointless entry while i am awake at 5am for no good reason
sooooooo i haven't had a good cry in a bit, and wednesday/thursday just set me off. unfortunately Mr W (papa mentor / former orthopaedic surgeon boss) had to deal with the brunt of my emotions -- he'd been nagging me about wasting my time in service instead of pursuing a masters degree (and also not getting a boyfriend; honestly he's like my surrogate dad for many reasons), so i basically rebutted with how fucking depressed i've been and how it's a damn miracle that i manage to get out of bed everyday for work and eat one (1) meal a day and not be dead. he's one of the few people in the world whose opinions I value and the last thing I need from him is to tell me how much I've not lived up to his expectations. I already have my actual parents for that, thanks v much
* not so coincidentally, the last time I had a near-breakdown was almost a year ago and was also triggered by something he said?? we were having (free, sponsored) lunch in the operating theatre and he made an off-hand comment about how slow/little I was eating and banned me from scrubbing in until I finished my share of food. then i spent the rest of the day trying not to cry/puke while assisting knee replacement surgery, which was a fucking ton of fun
anyway, i don't think he'll be nagging me to get a boyfriend for a while now.
TELEVISION
Modern Life is Goodish is back!! I'm so happy about this. It's one of those shows that consistently makes me laugh like a loon. It's brilliant.
BOOKS
Not much to add here except I've started reading P.G. Wodehouse again. Haven't done so in a while because I'm a few more books to finishing all his Jeeves and Wooster stories and the thought of not having any more new ones makes me sad.
VIDEOGAMES
Got my brother to try out Cuphead with me and wow we suck at this / HOW DANG DIFFICULT IS THIS GAME. we've yet to get through the first level :'D better luck tomorrow. The art style is great though, very retro / old-school Disney. Plus the side-scrolling bullet-shooting gameplay is so nostalgic, it reminds me of the old Nintendo stuff we used to play as kids.
that's about it I guess. will go for a solo movie and Nando's if I manage to drag myself out of bed and not cry today. wish me luck

Also I totally get your anxiety about finishing a series and knowing that there's no more content for it! There are so many shows I've left on hold indefinitely because I just love them too much. (Fanfic is my painkiller of choice for this sort of thing!)
Would you rec Modern Life is Goodish to a Dave Gorman newbie? I've only ever seen him on Taksmaster and not much else.

Yess most definitely! I didn't know much about Dave Gorman before starting around series 2-3 and now Modern Life Is Goodish is one of my favourite shows!
