free weekend!
Sep. 23rd, 2017 06:55 pmHeyooooo
Spent the past few days showing my family around this little island. Just reminded me of how empty this place is, devoid of excitement.. Plenty of peaceful places to hang out though, read a book alone.. mm. Oh and so. many. mosquitoes. I'm positively covered with bites.
I've got the weekend off with no work!! What a change of scene. It's left me clueless on what to do. I've already spent way too much of my Saturday napping. Yay.
TELEVISION
Finished up Ronny Chieng's International Student. My big bro seems to really like it. It's a decent sitcom! I really love the fact that the cast is so majority-ly Asian. Fuck yes. Represent. The parody parts of the show are fucking gold -- I'm especially tickled by the obvious Power Rangers poke in the bubble tea episode. Ha! Oh, childhood.
I'm still going through Riverdale episodes. Jughead is the main reason I continue to watch, lol. Cole is presh. It's such a trashy show though, I'm so sorry hahahha. I've splurged out on a Jughead beanie from Hot Topic and I just.. I'm questioning my life decisions :')
BOOKS
My mom brought over some of my mail order things from bookdepository!! Hooray!! I'm reading James Acasters's Classic Scrapes and oh my god, this book is so good. Favourite anecdote so far has to be La-la-la-la-Humpty, I can't get over that. I'm going to listen to the audiobook in time, too. Just trying to imagine James's deadpan delivery of these stories makes me giggle.
I finished Rapture, the Bioshock tie-in novel, too. Utterly fascinating! Given the fact that I was too engrossed with being shit scared while playing the game, lots of the backstory kinda went over my head at the time -- so the book gave me a thorough run through. It's such an excellent world-building. I'm now really looking forward to Bioshock 2..
I haven't gotten my physical copy of this yet, but Adam Kay's This is Going to Hurt looks like it's going to be one of my favourite things ever. I've been following his endless and shameless self-promo on Twitter and he's obviously so proud of this thing. Will have to get my hand on the audiobook too! esp since Mark Watson interviews him in it. OH YESS. I've already bought an extra copy hahahah, I think my papa mentor would appreciate it?? plus it gives me an excuse to drop by the ortho clinic when I'm next back home (LESS THAN A MONTH!!)
that's about it I think! time to go back to mindless boredom.
